Portraits of Patriots: A Film Screening + Panel Discussion

Honoring Service. Celebrating Legacy. Shaping What's Next.

Some stories don't just deserve to be told, they deserve to be witnessed.

ACA invites you to Portraits of Patriots, an evening dedicated to honoring the courage, sacrifice, and brilliance of African American military heroes.

Join us on Thursday, May 21, as we open the Portraits of Patriots

The evening includes:

🎙️ A featured conversation with Kenneth B. Morris Jr., a decorated Navy pilot, native Houstonian, noted speaker, and creative. Joined by community leaders and fellow veterans in a candid panel discussion on Black military service, legacy, and what it means to serve.

🎨 A guided walkthrough of original artwork by Bolaji Akanji, whose visual series M.A.G.A. uses surreal, vibrant compositions to reclaim one of America's most charged phrases, asking who truly gets to define greatness and whose stories belong in the fabric of this nation.

🎬 Screening of Six Triple Eight: a powerful film honoring the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only all-Black, all-female battalion to serve in Europe during World War II.

This event is the opening night of a 5-week film festival and the culmination of 30 days of curated storytelling spotlighting African American military heroes.

Come be part of the full experience.
