Every December, The Anderson Center for the Arts brings Houston together for its most anticipated event of the year. An Evening of Elegance isn’t just a show — it’s a full experience from the moment you step out of your car to the final note of the night.
This is The Anderson Center’s signature annual fundraiser, and it is the evening that keeps our programming, our students, and our creative community alive and thriving for the twelve months that follow.

This Year
2026 Production: “When Soul Told the Story”
This year’s Evening of Elegance is a 90-minute mixed-media production unlike anything we’ve brought to the stage before.
A Motown Christmas — “When Soul Told the Story” weaves together Motown classics, gospel, jazz, and R&B holiday favorites into a single, seamless experience. Song, dance, live music, and vignettes combine to tell the story of a sound that didn’t just define a generation — it carried a people.
A full 90-minute performance
Featuring live musicians, dancers, vocalists, and actors. Every element is intentional. Every moment earns its place on stage.
Building-wide activations
The evening begins long before the curtain rises — and the energy doesn’t stop at intermission.
